OEM flywheel bolts can fail when subjected to large amounts of torque and general abuse so it is important to upgrade them in a performance engine. Fortunately, the experts at ARP have developed bolts that are far superior to OEM hardware. ARP's premium grade Pro Series bolts have a 190,000 psi tensile strength. They are forged from aerospace alloy and heat-treated prior to thread rolling and machining.

- Using an alternating or criss-cross pattern, torque the bolts to 55 lb-ft using the lubricants specified below
PRELOAD (TORQUE) RECOMMENDATIONS:
Following the manufacturer's recommended torque sequence tighten the nuts in three equal steps to 55 lb-ft with ARP ULTRA-TORQUE FASTENER ASSEMBLY LUBRICANT. ARP recommends using the ARP ULTRA-TORQUE FASTENER ASSEMBLY LUBRICANT that is provided with each kit as opposed to engine oil. This is due to higher friction on the studs as well as inconsistencies in the clamping force of the fasteners when engine oil or other low-quality lubricants are used.
